FIVE MAJOR CAUSES OF OVERHEATING IN CARS.

Share:

There can be many different causes of an overheating issue, the reason your engine is overheating is because something inside the cooling system is preventing the absorption , transportation or release of heat.

The following are some reasons why overheating happens.

1.Leak in the cooling system-
This is one of the main causes of engine overheating. If you get a leak in your radiator, Water Pump, hoses, head gasket or thermostat housing, your engine will not function optimally. The moment you notice the leak seal it on your own but it is always advisable to visit a garage for thoroughly check-up.

2.Coolant Issues-
You can have problems with your coolant even if there isn’t a leak in the system. If you put the wrong coolant in your car, or the coolant-to-water ration is off, your engine may have problems staying cool. You should try to flush the system and adding the proper mix as recommended.

3.Blocked Hoses-
If there is no leak and the coolant has been installed properly, the next thing is to check your coolant hose. Sometimes dirt’s or Road sediment can get into the coolant department and block the flow of fluids through the hoses. Flushing the system and refilling the coolant tank is the most preferred course of action.

4.Radiator Problems-
Another common cause of engine overheating is a problem with your radiator. Leaks, clogs or problems with the radiator fan means that the heat cant properly escape, Which will cause the temperature increase/rise. A mechanic will be able to diagnose exactly what is wrong with radiator and the best measure to correct the problem.

5.Broken water pump-
The water pump, helps to pump and propel engine coolant throughout your cooling system. Any issue associated with the water pump can lead to an overheating engine. Common water pump issues include leaks, shifting of the pump shaft, eroded impeller vanes.

Note.

If you notice the car is overheating, turn on the heat on your car, this will help move hot air out of the engine compartment and take it to the nearest mechanic/Garage. Ignoring the problem can cause engine failure.
