1. Reflector Triangle.
All
motor vehicles (excluding motorcycles) should have these at all times. The reflector
should be used when the motor vehicle for any reason stops on the road. The
reflectors should be placed 60 metres ahead and 60 metres behind a disabled
vehicle.
2. First Aid Kit
A
fully equipped first aid kit should have the following items-gauze dressings,
triangular bandages, rolled bandages, safety pins, disposable sterile gloves, tweezers,
scissors, alcohol-free cleasing wipes, sticky tape, antiseptic cream,
painkillers such as paracetamol, antihistamine tablets, distilled water for cleaning
wounds and eye bath.
3. Tool Box.
Tools
such as Jack and spanner can be used to do minimal repair when the vehicle is
disabled.
4. Fire Extinguisher
This
enables the motorist to deal with fire emergencies. Ensure that the fire extinguisher
is inspected regularly to ensure that it is in good working condition.
5. Fire Axe
In
the event of fire , the fire axe is a handy tool to rescue passengers.
6. Tow Ropes.
This
rope is reinforced to handle the weight of the car and can be used to Tow
vehicles incase f breakdown.
7. Spare tyre.
It
is very important to have an inflated spare tyre and restored the deflated tyre
back as soon as possible. Always ensure that you have an inflated tyre (wheel).
8. Jumpstart Cable.
The
Jumpstart cable is used to reignite the engine.
9. Survival Gear.
This
is particularly important for motorists operating in places with extreme
conditions such as extreme cold, extreme heat and rough terrain that is likely
to damage the car. Survival gear may include blankets, a tourch, small supply
of food and water.
